Hey guys,

After truggling with it I have been using the hot key driver 7.0010 for a while and everything was working fine, suddenly yesterday
I realised the backlit wasn't working, tried to open clevo apps, nothing happened, restarted still nothing... (I havent changed anything on my computer)

I looked around and found an updated version 7.0026, installed it restarted the computer, and apart from seeing the icon, the backlit is
still not working and clicking in the icon still doesn't show the menu ...

Fn + Fx keys works but that is all... I think this is the WORST driver ever from clevo so far.... Plus the site list only drivers for windows 8,
big joke again...

Just frustrated really... :D Anyway, do you guys have found a decent driver for Windows 7 ?

PS : I have P150SM

I tried even if im using windows 7 and can't open the control center no matter what... Still no backlit either...

Clevo doesn't list any driver for windows 7 anyway... Like I said 7.0010 was working fine until it stopped suddenly...
The control center was working but now nothing... I dont know if it could be because of an update on windows, but I dont
remember having one last week...

I don't think it is a hardware issue, because even if the backlit doesn't work, I should be able to pop the control center by
clicking the hotkey app...

Well...if you will insist on using a back-level operating system what can you expect?

Only kidding! :)

Ducks for cover.

Mine has stopped working for no reason to - something about "software restart required for drivers". and it won't go away no matter what.
The Windows 8 drivers is missing the windows 7 version. If you try to install them it complains with "network error accessing Hotkey 7.0011.msi" and its right... there are no drivers in the there for windows 7.

Im having the same problem with brightness on the P150HM the Vortex 2.

It worked fine for ages until AMD changed a driver then it all went to pot.

Asked PC's throught their Technical Ticker and they are sending me out a memory stick with the BIOS update to try and fix it but there not 100% sure it'll work.

I dont know if its Clevo's fault or AMD but if i go back throught the AMD drivers it starts working again.

I can let you know once i have tried it on mine.

it's a sly way of trying to get you to update to Win 8. Did the lap top come preinstalled with 7 or 8?

You have no chance to make me update to Windows 8 :D

Plus why would I update to windows 8 when hotkeys drivers exists for windows 7 ? The laptop came with windows 7 and
the version of the hotkeys worked well so far until this weekend. (When I say it worked well, I mean I had access to the control center via Fn+esc or by clicking the hotkey icon in the tray)
Now nothing, I have been digging and I am not sure if it could be down to the "PowerBiosServer" Service installed with the hotkeys that doesn't work properly since an update or god knows what happened...

@SmokeDarKnight : Yeah BIOS update could help, I was hoping a PCS member would read this and give some insight as they might have configure a P150SM alike computer recently with Windows 7 and installed hotkeys what ever version they used...

@ads_green : I can't use the msi .. I have to use the exe directly.. and I managed to install the windows 8 version of the hotkeys on my windows 7 but that doesn't work either....

I'm on windows 8 so the problem will probably still be there if you were to upgrade.

The PCS guys are so busy they haven't been around much to be honest.

If you drop them a line on the Technical Support part once you have logged into your PCS page then they should get back pretty quick. Took them about half a day to get back to me with that system.

Hey guys,

Quick updat :

My backlit works time to time after a boot (and when I say works I have just light coming through) but the hotkeys control center still isn't and after I
contacted PCS, and couple emails, they have now arranged for a BIOS update to be created and sent soon via royal mail.

My current BIOS :

BIOS Version : 1.00.06TPCS
KBC/EC Firmware Revision : 1.00.04

I will let you know if it fixes the problem.

Cheers

I would strongly suggest that you start a new thread for these problems, they are likely to be overlooked in this thread. :)

okey doke ( a question & in no means a prob with pcs) ----I haven't 'configured' any keys, my off the shelf, so to speak hotkeys work eg 'switching keyboard lights off etc). I haven't tried to 'make' new hotkey shortcuts. So I'm asking, is the prob in the 'original config' or trying to 'add hotkeys) ?

In regards to 'drivers' not being installed correctly - often when you receive a new pc/laptop etc it does take a while for drivers, etc to update. So I, in my recent experience, would say it's a software update that is required..these can change within hours with regards to the os.

I have a prob over Bluetooth - but with elimination I'm sure the answer lies within Win 8.1 or my mobile provider etc.

My Vortex IV works extremely well - my probs are with regards to my software & firmware (it was a process of elimination). I haven't requested help via pcs since obtaining my brill Maynard. But I am sure, my questions would be received as well now, as they were with regards to other questions I asked them in the past :D

I know this is an old thread, but I have got the exact same problem here.

I downloaded one of the drivers which allows my backlit keyboard to function fantastically, but the problem I was having was that the stupid hotkey software would steal focus every time I pressed the caps lock, or num lock etc etc. This meant that it would either tab out of software, or just not let me type until the silly OSD switched off. In an attempt to fix it, I downloaded the 7.0028 driver (the only one I can find) and installed it. Now I have none of that silly oversized osd stealing my focus at all. But now my backlights on the keyboard refuse to work. I've literally had this laptop a week now, and I am becoming increasingly annoyed, not at PC Specialist, but at Clevo for their downright incompetance with regards to developing a driver that actually works without interfering with everything else.

Can someone please please help me out here? I am just hoping that someone here has found a workaround to this problem!

Oh and Hello everyone!
