I don't think you should have the pc on carpet because it can cause static electricity and break it, well this is the case with PS3's anyway.

the main reason i say know to it being on carpet is heat, it can make a lot more heat on carpet especially if its very thick

I personally have mine stood in an air-conditioned extension that I had built especially for the PC. It has 1 bedroom, and a kitchen diner and generous living space and is kept at a constant 11 degrees :)

If that pc is staying on the floor, at least cut yourself a piece of board or something to stand it on. If you cut it just big enough for the pc legs to reach, you won't even notice it.

Have fun with your new toy :)

Thanks guys for the feedback.
The Carpet is not that thick, but its only tempory untill i get a pc Desk, am using a spare table from the kitchen just now.

Got nothing to lay on the floor for the PC but temps are fine around the 30-47 at times on the card,CPU and power supply.

as for the static elec, dosent that happen with friction?

Can happen just moving a PC chair over a carpet though :)
I know this cos when I vacuum my floor and then roll my chair over the floor, I hear the crackling sounds of static (ok, I live in rented place and the 'carpet' I'm not really sure could be classed as carpet, its more like a very very very worn down office carpet rather than a carpet you'd find in a house).
