Hi guys, I've had the same gaming PC now for a couple years and its due an upgrade, I'm not too clued in on parts that've came out in the last few years and thought id ask if this is a good build for mainly gaming, although I do use it for university work and CAD modelling but mostly on the side, please let me know if there are any parts I should sub in/out, thanks in advance.

I run dual monitors with the main one being a LC27RG50 240Hz Samsung monitor and the other is a BenQ GL2480 60Hz Monitor

I would say my max budget is around the £1400 mark if theres anything important needing to be added

Any help is appreciated

I wouldn't buy that or any intel based build, the above is several generations out of date, your best bet is to go with an AMD build and maybe save a bit more cash so you've got a better budget to work with

Honestly if you have a gaming PC that's only a couple of years old, and if it was well designed in the first place, it might well bear upgrading rather than replacing. Was it a PC Specialist machine?

As to your build and budget, an AMD machine on the latest platform is achievable for £1400, though it wouldn't have everything I'd ideally want. You're looking at a 7600 CPU and either a 4060 or a 7600 XT as the graphics card. Those are very decent midrange options.

A couple years was kind of an understatement i got it back in late 2016ish, ill definitely have a look at more AMD machines like you said thanks for the help

As a 'starter for ten' here's an AMD build keeping within your max budget of £1400, there'd be too many corners cut to get it to £1200...

Ok, so what are you going to do with this old machine, if the answer is scrap it and its got W10 or above on it you could transfer the windows licence over to the new machine, which would knock about £100 off the build that @TonyCarter has put together above
