Optimus VIII v Proteus V v Octane III v Defiance XS

Wotcher.

PC Specialist looks great, all these ways of configuring machines. Perfect.

I'm struggling though to understand the difference between the models. Take a 15.6" laptop. There are six options. Most of them support virtually identical configurations: same CPU (or v similar), same GPU, same SDD, same RAM. For example: i7-7700HQ/GTX1060/500SamsungSDD/16GB.

But the range of pricing is pretty big. An Optimus VIII with what looks to me like very similar specs to an Octane III but it's like 400 quid cheaper (the CPU min is a 7700 not a 7700HQ so there's a bit there, but not 400). I'm obviously missing something, but I can't figure out what it is.

Have a look at the detailed specification for each. Some support only 7mm HDDs, others support 9.5mm HDDs, some have a single drive bay, others have two drive bays, etc. etc.
