Stripping current PC for Graphics and Hard Drives

I'm currently looking at a new PC as my old i7 is dying, I've been recommended Ryzen over a Core for gaming.

Things I cannot do without - 3 front (pref. top) USB ports & front audio

I intend to add/use (from my old PC)
  • Gigabyte NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 (1x8pin power connector)
  • 2.5" SSD
  • 2x 3.5" HDD
  • 2 1080p monitors, but I plan to upgrade these to 4k when money permits (confirming there's a reason I've not added any of these to the spec)
  • Mouse, Keyboard & Stereo speakers (none of these on spec)
  • Network connection via cable

My questions/queries are:
  1. Would the case be able to hold the drives/graphics card I wish to add? (I'd rather look daft and double-check than have problems when things arrive)
  2. Would this void any warranties? (again - I'd rather pay to have a technician set them up and add them for the added peace of mind if the answer is yes.)
  3. Will the PSU have sufficient SATA connections to accommodate the drives? (I know it says that I don't need one that big, but I'd rather have it that way than risk overloading it.)
  4. Have I made any mistakes (stupid or otherwise) that would seriously impact system performance? (I know myself, the answer is probably yes.)

Hi, what's your max budget?

In my opinion, that build is pretty unbalanced. I'd recommend something like this for an FHD gaming PC.

Please keep in mind that your 4060 is barely capable of handling a very basic 1080p resolution, and while SSD/HDDs can be used for storage, they are not fast enough to be a gaming drive. You can also easily transfer your OS licence to the new PC and save £100.

My budget is supposed to be a hard £1,000, I'm stretching it at the 1,044 I had.
Is the 4060 really not up to the job? I'm not playing many modern games, and don't need to be playing them at 4k - the upgrade on monitors is mainly for the consoles I'd have hooked up to the capture card.
That said, I was hoping for a 4k capture card to be included in the price.
If it's unbalanced, which areas are the weak points, please?

I'd completely overlooked the reusing operating system, thank you for pointing that one out.

For a basic 1080p system, your original build looks OK to me. The SSD will do for older games, as will a 4060. The saving on your OS allows for the better PSU in case you change your mind later on about upgrades. Other than that it's fine.

Here you are.

Never go cheap on MB, Case and PSU. They're fundamental components of any build.

I'm not an expert on capture cards but I think you can easily find one, probably cheaper, elsewhere.

Sorry @Aki2403 , I forgot to answer your questions...

1- Lancool 215 has enough space for additional storage units and can accommodate GPUs up to 370mm.
Screenshot 2024-06-29 000821.png

2- PCS follows an open case policy.

39061-7e92325c5fba669fd0f10a7bc35675b7.png

3- The automatic configurator just adds up the TDPs, ignoring transient spikes and inevitable future GPU upgrades.

4- In my opinion, you were too low on the Motherboard (Primes are a poor choice), Case (PCS is an unknown brand), PSU (CX series are not exactly the finest quality ones), M.2 (again, PCS are not the most reliable ones), and the Standard Warranty is quite restricted.

The primary advantage of a Custom PC is that it can be created to meet one's exact requirements and upgraded during its lifespan.
