The Maelstrom GTX

(pre built)

640GB WD CAVIAR BLACK
1GB GEFORCE GTX 560 Ti
4GB KINGSTON HYPER-X 1600
ASUS® P8P67
Intel® Core™ i5-2500

Now not sure if i would buy this or a cheaper one,
As i need it to run ARMA 2 on high smoothly no lag :turned:

I will be buying another computer also but will wait untill ARMA 3 is out so i can get a more upto date hardware etc,

Any other models that would run the game on high with no problems?

and in a months time, will their be any updated computers on the pre built?

thanks!

ohh forgot, my budget is

£500-870

dont bother buying the pre-built PCs unless you need them, replicate it yourself in the builder and it should end up cheaper, although ive never tried myself

Cheers wozza,
had ago in the builder tbf,
it comes at £15 or so cheaper with alittle less memory also on the harddrive,

At least the pre built should be overnight/few nights wait, as opposed to over 2 week wait? for 15 quid and tiny bit of less memory.

Whether you get the pre-built one or not, make sure you go for the Silver Warranty for a fiver, it extends the collect + return warranty from one month to a year, would be silly not to do that, even if only for peace of mind :)

The prices of all PCs are the same, pre-built or custom. If you chose the exact same spec as the pre-build PCs you will see the price is identical - just you could get one the next day or you wait for it to be built for you. I know which one I'd chose if the specs were the same :D

I would suspect they look at what the general demand for a PC is. There's people like us on the forums who generally are after higher end PC's but your average Joe who just wants to use MS Word, browse the internet etc won't need anything too extreme. I would also thing PCS look at what their competitors make and compete with them. They have probably found that even balance between cost & performance to have those ready made computers and know they will sell fairly well.
