Video editing Build - 2k Budget

Hello Every one,

I have a basic understanding of computers, and was hoping i could be pointed in the right direction for a Desktop build.

Budget £2,000

Buissnes use, so we dont need led lights etc,

Adobe premiere pro (4K Video editing), Light room and Photoshop.

I was thinking of a AMD Ryzen pro Processor

It's very important to know the correct maximum budget because it's indicated as £2000 but the posted build costs already £2300... :unsure:

But if the OP is thinking of a Threadripper Pro CPU, then the budget is severely lacking for that (i.e. £3k without RAM or GPU).

But if the OP just wants a high-core CPU, then the 7950X is the beefiest normal CPU AMD do, but don't think I could squeeze one into a sub-£2000 build without downgrading the GPU...and we don't know whether a better GPU accelerates the OP's applications more or less than more CPU cores.

I'm not sure what I'm doing and just tried to create a build following the guide. I'm open to any recommendations or builds.

Is the budget £2000 ex vat (as a business purchase) or £2000 inc; vat?

I'm making a lot of assumptions here, as we still don't know what specific apps your using for your editing, as Premiere Pro, After Effects, Davinci Resolve, etc. have different

Assuming the budget is £2400 incl. vat, and assuming it's Premiere Pro, using Puget Systems media creation benchmarks, there's about 10% in it between the 4070 Super and the 4070Ti Super - and a £230 premium for the 4070Ti Super.

But unless you know the app benefits from more CPU cores than GPU grunt, then I don't think you're far off with your original config.

I've tweaked it a little as below, to add a cooler that matched that CPU better, and upped the RAM to 64GB for editing.

In that case, the build I posted is probably on target.

The only question remaining is if you need more storage, as 1TB secondary drive is relatively small, and for video/photo editing we normally recommend another fast 512GB drive for cache.

But of course these options add cost, which would have to be taken out of the budget elsewhere.

Something like:
  1. 512GB Solidgm P44 Pro (Windows/Apps only)
  2. 512GB Solidigm P44 Pro (cache)
  3. 1-4TB Solidigm/Corsair SSD for project / working files

This is why we ask so many questions, as the speed, size & config of storage depends on usage & how specific apps use their caches/project drives.
