Actual live build.

Don't usually go for early releases as it causes problems but need to as currently on a project utilising MS's new "evergreen" approach to business.

Will let you know how it goes through. Or not. :)

Creators build

Happy to report that it appears to have gone both seamlessly and reasonably quickly but more importantly it's preserved my privacy settings from the previous version (hint: if you're doing a fresh install, MS are sending MUCH more data back home by default)

Ahh is it not 1704 that's the big one? Or is this it... and simply delayed? :D

Weird, I always thought the build was based on the year and the month released :D

It did but at some point MS changed their minds - if you think that Anniversary was 1607 but was mainstream released in August.

I think, but don't quote me on this, it's because the early adopters get it a month sooner now - that's the full on version, not the fast ring versions.

Some info on the differences between anniversary and creators here if anyone's interested: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/itpro/windows/whats-new/whats-new-windows-10-version-1703

I must admit, I have been tempted to give the LTSB (Long Term Service Branch) a look - it's Windows 10 with a LOT of general features removed - e.g. no store, no mail client etc. just a vanilla Windows. MS don't recommend it for day-to-day use for most people but it sounds interesting to me as I don't tend to use the features it removes.

Just realised I'm on 1511.. I think I need to update. :/

Hahaha yeah you're well behind the curve there mate:

Version 1507 (Initial release)
Version 1511 (November Update)
Version 1607 (Anniversary Update)
Version 1703 (Creators Update)

From what I've read there doesn't seem to be much in the Creator's Edition to get me too excited. I don't game, I don't use Cortana, I don't use Edge and I'm not much interested in 3D modelling. Have you noticed any UI or performance improvements that might make me start to salivate in anticipation? In on Windows 10 Home so I won't have any choice when the update arrives but it would be nice to know? :)

Did you upgrade in place or do a clean install (it looks like an upgrade in place from the images)? I will probably follow the same path with the other two upgrades and do a clean install from downloaded media to be on the safe side.

I haven't noticed anything major yet. But then I'd no idea about the blue light filter either so don't rely on me there... ;)

Seems pretty much the same as the build before.

Did an in-place this time as couldn't be bothered with reinstalling everything. I do usually start from scratch.
