Using old GPU on a new build

Hi All

I am in the process of building a new gaming pc (as my old one does not work anymore) around an AM5 Mobo and Ryzan 7 CPU my question is will my old GPU ( R9-295X ) be compatible/usable on this build. Will be playing some modern games like space marine 2, supreme commander with my friends and family.
I do intend to upgrade the GPU for a 4080 or 4090 if the prices come down after the 50 series is released.
